Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, many spend Valentine’s Day with their loved ones, but there is also an opportunity to engage with the college and local community. Whether you are celebrating Galentine’s or Valentine’s Day, this guide will provide several exciting events on campus and in the community for you to consider attending.

On campus, a few Greek organizations are holding events during Valentine’s week to fundraise for their philanthropies.

Kappa Iota (KI) is selling Hershey Kisses and Valentine’s in the lobby of Hamilton Commons from Feb. 9 to Feb. 11 in support of RISE Advocacy. RISE Advocacy is located in Mount Pleasant, and all proceeds will directly help their mission. These treats will be delivered to students on Feb 12.

“Since we are a local sorority, a lot of little events like this help spread awareness and help out our local philanthropy,” said Lily Malamis (‘27).

KI is also hosting two other events during Valentine’s week including, Love Letters with KI on Feb. 10 and a donation drive from Feb. 8 to the 28.

On Thursday, Feb. 12, Alpha Xi Delta is selling flowers in support of the Kindly Hearts Initiative at the Hamilton Commons lobby. “Bouquet making is a low-pressure participation event that allows students to engage at their own comfort level. Students can arrive casually, gather materials, and sit with friends while creating their bouquets, making the experience feel welcoming rather than performative,” said LeeAnn Ticen (‘28).

A Valentine’s flowerpot event is taking place in Dow Upper lobby Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. At this event, students will personalize a flowerpot. Those who are participating will also get free flowers to put into the pots.
