As the Winter semester comes to a close, students are registering for classes for the upcoming Fall semester. Among them, incoming freshmen are preparing to begin their journey as Alma College Scots.

With rolling admissions, Alma College reviews applications as they are submitted, without a fixed deadline. This means that students will continue to become admitted – although trends are already looking positive.

Shelly M. Buschle, the Senior Director of Admissions who oversees recruiting as well as campus visits and events for prospective students, has shared her insight from recruitment.

“It is still early but all indications are that we have a large number of talented students committed to Alma for the fall,” said Buschle.

This is extremely exciting for the dynamic of Alma College, as it signifies the growing number of the student body. The more students, the more diversity and energy the campus will inevitably have.

“I am super stoked that there are so many new Scots coming to Alma College. I am excited to see how that develops the dynamic of college.” said Rae Brock (‘27).

“I’m honestly really happy about the new Alma students. I hope to see more growth and diversity in this college and know that they will enjoy it here!” said Iris Jimenez (‘27).

Additionally, it is important to mention that this is a large achievement for Alma College. The Admissions office has been working tirelessly to attract and recruit prospective students, and early indicators suggest that Alma College’s hard work is paying off.

“The staff has increased focus on the needs and interests of each student population – first year, transfer, international, and graduate – and personalized our communication, outreach efforts, and engagement opportunities to their interests.” said Buschle.

This approach has been highly effective, as Alma the Alma College admissions has been celebrating their success so far.

“We have received the highest number of applications as well as the second highest number of deposits in five years to date,” said Buschle.

Other staff within Admissions have also witnessed this positive change, as tour guides have seen the influx of students interested in Alma.

Take advantage of all the opportunities we offer! The college makes the effort to give you a well-rounded experience, and your job is to just go out there and try out new things.” said tour guide Wassim Guerfail (‘27).

Thus, as spring approaches, possible incoming students will have more opportunity to participate in the community that Alma College offers. This will help ensure, or ‘seal’ the deal, as students will be able to foster a sense of belonging.

“As a first year guide, I hope that the new class feels a sense of community here at Alma College. Honestly, that is the most potent thing that Alma College offers new students.” said Lillian Sierwakowski (‘28).

With the Fall semester on the horizon, the excitement for what’s to come is arising, and Alma College stands poised for another year of growth, connection, and success.
