Senior Farewells: Jordan Fox, Kyle Scheck, and Jamie Diedrich

Jamie Diedrich

Hello Almanian Community

I first applied to the Almanian to be a copy editor after finding out my current roommate also worked for the publication. I became a Layout Editor, the artist making the comic, a photographer, and my favorite of them all, a staff writer.

Getting to sit across from so many members of the Alma College community during interviews for the publication was truly an honor every time. This campus breathes life into the Almanian and I have loved reflecting that through, let’s be honest, usually the Op-eds.

I could not have asked for a better team to work with every other week, and I am beyond grateful to Jordan and Dr. Cicci for the opportunity. I adore each and every talented, strong member, I believe in you, and I know you’re all full of potential.

Readers, we couldn’t do this without you, so thank you for continuing to allow us to service the campus through the spread of news. The goal of the Almanian is to represent a variety of views, and I hope we accurately represent this rich and lively community.

Loyally, Jamie Diedrich.

Jordan Fox

Dear readers of The Almanian,

I’ve been a part of the paper for four years, starting as a staff writer and working my way up to Editor-in-Chief. I still remember the first article I wrote, ā€œAlma College dancers prepare for fall concert,ā€ and how it felt to initiate my first in-person interview, and how exciting it was to see my first front-page story.

Coming into Alma, I always planned on graduating in three years: the chance to be Editor-in- Chief played a large part in my decision to stay for a fourth. Publishing my first edition ranks among the most nerve-wracking moments in my life, but seeing the paper in its physical form has been one of the most rewarding.

Thank you, Almanian, for the past four years. I will miss Sunday mornings in the office, the energy of The Almanian staff, and being able to represent the Alma College community. I hope the stories keep coming, the passion keeps growing, and an IT person is on-call every other Sunday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
With love, Jordan

Kyle Scheck

Dearest readers,

It was freshman year that I began taking photos for the Almanian, and now, looking to the horizon, I can only wonder as to what’s next. Working for the Almanian has given me ample opportunities to improve my craft as a photographer, and I cannot be more grateful.

When I started at the Almanian I had planned to be an environmental scientist. Now, however, as I approach the horizon of graduation, I’m not quite sure how my Life will unfold. I’ve changed my major, switched paths, and decided to attend grad school for a discipline unrelated to my major; in spite of all the questions, over the past four years, the Almanian has remained a constant. My photography has improved to a point I never imagined, it is only now I lament for the future of uncertainty.

Apart from my gratitude for the photography opportunities these past four years, I’d also like totake a moment and appreciate the friends I’ve made along the way. Some of my, soon-to-beformer, co-workers have had a monumental impact on my life, my friendships with them havesimply inspired me to be more outgoing. I am eternally grateful.

Christlike Love, Kyle Scheck
