After the conclusion of the 2026 March Madness Tournament, I think March Madness lives up to the hype.

As March Madness continues to unfold across the country, fans are once again experiencing the excitement, unpredictability, and intensity that define the NCAA tournament.

From buzzer-beaters to unexpected upsets, this year’s tournament has captured attention and sparked strong reactions among viewers.

While the tournament is often known for its competitive nature, many fans say the nonstop action is what truly makes it special, describing how the tournament keeps audiences engaged from beginning to end. “Constant action for a month straight,” said Nickolas Savoie (’29).

The fast pace combined with the single-elimination format creates a sense of urgency, where every game has significant consequences. That pressure often leads to surprising results, which is one of the defining features of March Madness. Underdog teams continue to make a major impact, challenging higher-ranked opponents and reshaping expectations.

“Iowa definitely impressed me, I think they were a major underdog,” said Christopher Saranacki (’29), pointing out how overlooked teams can rise to the occasion.

Brackets also play a key role in fan engagement, giving viewers a personal stake in the outcome of each game. However, the unpredictable nature of the tournament often leads to frustration.

“My bracket got nuked, I haven’t even looked at it,” said Saranacki.

  These reactions reflect how quickly expectations can change as upsets disrupt even the most carefully planned predictions.

In addition to the unpredictability, fans have also been drawn to specific games and standout moments. High-energy matchups and dramatic finishes continue to define this year’s tournament.

“UConn’s buzzer beater to beat Duke,” said Savoie.

I think moments like this showcase what makes March Madness unique, standing out among many competitive games.

As the tournament progressed, debates over which team would win the championship continued to grow. Opinions remained divided, with fans expressing strong confidence in their picks.

“Michigan is definitely winning the championship, I think they’re going to defeat UConn,” said Saranacki.

In contrast, others dismissed that idea, pointing to how unpredictable the outcome seemed leading up to the final.

In the end, the tournament delivered its answer on the court. Michigan defeated UConn in the national championship, securing the title and proving that confidence in their performance was not misplaced. The victory capped off a tournament filled with intensity, standout performances, and unforgettable moments.

“It has a lot more hype and makes basketball more exciting,” said Savoie.
