Should we have homework over Spring Break?
“I think having assignments over spring break is defying the main purpose of the break itself; Students should take the time to rest and focus on their mental wellbeing so that they could be more productive and motivated for the rest of the semester.” – Wassim Guerfali (‘27)
“Students should not be given assignments to work on over Spring Break (or any scheduled break for that matter). The entire point of Spring Break is to give students a respite from their workloads, and it’s important that students get the chance to fully relax without needing to worry about assignments. I firmly believe that if students are able to take full advantage of break as a time for relaxation, they are more likely to return to campus prepared to finish out the remainder of the term without getting burnt-out.” – Natalie Krause (‘29)
“I believe that we should not have assignments over spring break because with the stress of midterms and other assignments, Spring break is a time for students to relax and spend time with their families.” – Quinn Addy (‘27)
“We shouldn’t have assignments over spring break because it distracts us from having fun or enjoying the free time we have and not thinking about school. We’re able to do activities that we can’t do because of school. We should be able to spend time with friends and families without thinking “oh shoot, I must get this assignment done during break” etc.” – Ivan Ramirez Dominguez (‘28)
“I believe that students should not have assignments over spring break, as it is a time to relax and recharge halfway through the semester. Adding assignments in a time of calmness will make students stress more than what they already do. Students should use this week to relax and spend time with family or friends.” – Luis Parra (‘29)
