When is the correct time to start celebrating the winter holiday season?

“I think it’s okay to start celebrating whenever you want after Halloween. It’s alright to listen to a few Christmas tunes in November as long as you let Thanksgiving have its time to shine as well. The holidays can really make us feel better in these trying times, so if putting up your tree on November 1st helps you live your best life, then do it!” – Abigail Dumond (‘29)

“I like to celebrate the winter holidays, usually right after Thanksgiving. My family and I get our Christmas tree the weekend right after Thanksgiving. I have a tiny Christmas tree for my dorm that I’ll probably put up before Thanksgiving just so it’s up for a bit before winter break. I don’t usually listen to Christmas music or decorate much, but I don’t mind when other people do. I think that everyone should celebrate whenever they want! If it makes people happy, then that’s great!” – Sydni Johnroe (‘27)

“Right after Thanksgiving.” – Carter Melonio (‘27)

“I think December 1st is an acceptable time to start celebrating and putting up decorations. October should be for spooky fall decorations, November should be for cozy fall decorations, and December should be winter holiday decorations. Putting winter holiday decorations up on November 1st neglects the joy of the autumnal season.” – Kennedy Mullens (‘29)

“I think that the correct time to start celebrating the winter holiday is right after Thanksgiving. No holiday should be skipped in my opinion which is why I think after Thanksgiving. Decorating is different, which is why I started decorating but I only do that.” – Makayla Kozal (‘28)
