Alma College’s student body recently elected the 2026 Student Congress Executive Council with Nayonikaa Singhaal (‘27) elected President, Reagan Gleason (‘27) as Vice President, TJ Salley (‘27) as Secretary and MaKayla Kozal (‘28) in the role of Treasurer. Student Congress meets weekly to discuss campus events and organizations, with at least one representative from each organization attending.

Singhaal is already involved on campus working as a Career Peer, Tutor and RA. She is also very involved in the Kappa Iota sorority, International Student Club, Girls Who Code, The Almanian and Model United Nations. Singhaal has plans for Student Congress to be more accessible to the Alma community.

“I am committed to transparency, ensuring students know what’s being discussed in Congress and in meetings with the administration through monthly updates and open recaps. I also want to enhance accessibility by creating spaces like ‘Congress Connect’ sessions, where students can share ideas directly and engage without barriers,” said Singhaal.

Gleason is an apartment manager on campus, works at the Center for Student Opportunities (CSO), is a Volleyball team captain and serves on the Student Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC) Executive Board.Through this involvement, she has made many connections around Alma’s campus and is excited to meet more staff, faculty and students through this role as well.

“Being able to know people and the campus itself is going to be the most valuable when going into this Vice President role,” said Gleason.

Along with Singhaal, Gleason wants to make Student Congress outreach a major goal for this upcoming year.

“I think the biggest opportunity is getting more people to know about it and care about it [Student Congress]. That’s when you can make real change,” said Gleason.

Salley is the Vice President of IPHS Club, is in the Chemistry Club Honorary, is a Tutor and an RA as well. These jobs, organizations and clubs are what have prepared Salley for this role.

“My involvement, along with my courseload, has heightened my skills for organization and time-management, which are some of the most important aspects for the Secretary role. It always has me planning ahead, keeping good records and being very personable, which will help me thrive as Secretary,” said Salley.

Salley has big goals for the Student Congress this year in his role.

“I want to ensure that the student organizations that are led responsibly and act purposefully are getting the maximum funding possible, while those student organizations that aren’t functioning in this way are held accountable. Another goal that I have is to keep communication as clear and thorough as possible in order to be transparent to the student body as a whole,” said Salley.

Kozal brings a background of money management to the role of Treasurer. She is already the Treasurer of the Alma Accounting Association, has served on the Budget Committee and is an Accounting Major. This experience makes her familiar with the jobs that come with Treasurer.

Kozal also wants to expand Student Congress to people outside the Stuco representatives.

“I want to get more people involved with coming to the meetings more regularly if they are not already a Stuco representative and spreading the work on campus through the social media,” said Kozal.
