Alma College’s Fall Dance Concert, held on November 14 and 15, brought the campus together in a celebration of movement, teamwork, and creativity. For weeks, dancers from across the college had been rehearsing, refining choreography, and learning how to express themselves through each step. When the lights finally came up on show night, all that effort transformed into a performance filled with emotion, energy, and a shared sense of accomplishment.

“The Fall Dance Concert is an inspiring show where dancers get to showcase their talents and hard work they put in over the semester,” said Elise Volz (‘26).

For many students, the concert remained one of the most highly predicted events of the semester, not just because of the choreography, but because of how clearly it reflects the growth of the dance program and the dedication of the dancers involved. Each year, the concert brings in new talents, new styles, and new collaborations, creating an environment where creativity can flourish.

“As a part of the Alma College Dance Team, I looked forward to being a part of something so special. I was so grateful that the Alma College Dance Company invited us to perform alongside them,” said Volz.

Performers from the Alma College Dance Company, the Dance Team, the Kiltie Dancers, and several academic classes each brought their own style and personality to the stage, creating a concert filled with variety, richness, and heart. Every group contributed a different artistic voice, showing how movement can tell stories in countless ways.

“This concert reflected the growth of the dance program in many ways, but one of most importance was the unity it brought,” said Volz.

And that unity could be felt both on and off the stage. Though the dancers came from different teams and backgrounds, the concert created a shared space where everyone’s talent mattered. The collaboration between groups made the final performance feel not just polished, but connected, reminding the audience of how powerful teamwork, trust, and consistent practice can be in the performing arts.

Each routine shared a different story. Some pieces were sharp, intense, and athletic, while others leaned into softness, fluidity, and narrative movement. This contrast allowed the audience to appreciate the full spectrum of the dancers’ abilities, the creativity of the choreographers, and the thoughtful technique developed throughout the semester. From high-energy ensemble pieces to quiet, expressive solos, the concert offered something meaningful for every viewer.

“This year, our routine was powerful, energetic, and thrilling—and I hoped the audience felt these things after our performance,” said Volz.

The Dance Team’s piece especially stood out for its bold movement, strong musicality, and emotional depth, leaving a memorable impact and highlighting the team’s hard work.

Behind the scenes, dancers spent hours coordinating rehearsals, adjusting formations, and learning how to turn feedback into improvement. The process required resilience, discipline, and trust qualities that became just as important as technique. By the time the show arrived, the dancers were not just prepared they were proud of what they had created together.

The Fall Dance Concert once again proved to be more than a performance. It was a reminder of the community that forms when students support each other, push themselves, and create something meaningful together.
