Stone Recreation Center started offering free weekly exercise classes last semester and is continuing to provide them through this semester.

Every Monday there is a yoga class offered from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.; a cardio boxing class is offered from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday. On Tuesdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., a Dance2fit class is provided. A Cardio Drumming class is offered on Wednesdays from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.

“Our class is a gentle yoga class that is built to be accessible for students, faculty, staff and community members. We practice breath with movement-style yoga to support regulation in our bodies… We practice movements that support the release of tension that one may carry in their body,” said Stacy Grahams who leads the class.

“I hope that people will feel less tension and more space in their bodies and people will feel refreshed and ready for the rest of the day. I hope that by practicing regularly people will identify practices that support their needs in their body and mind and be able to practice them when they need,” said Grahams.

The Cardio Boxing class led by Emily Adams is an aerobic class that uses boxing moves.

“Self-confidence, the love of group fitness, a boxing foundation, self-care, and how to execute great jabs, hooks, and uppercuts,” said Adams

“Don’t be overly concerned about coming in without any experience. All different fitness levels can enjoy the sport of cardio boxing. Modifications are given so that all can be successful. Come ready to have fun, get your sweat on and see progress in yourself with consistency over time,” said Adams.

“I enjoy cardio boxing because it is a fun way to consistently get a workout and I enjoy spending time with the coach, Emily, and all who attend. I just always leave feeling better than I went in… I would say, ‘Just try it.’ You don’t have to be good at it, just get yourself out there to get a break from everything else going on,” said Chloe Anderson (‘26)

The Dance2fit class led by Stephanie Layton is an aerobic dance class.

“The class is a full body workout. It’s a mix of simple dance moves and common workout steps. Its beginner friendly with lots of available modification and ways to intensify,” said Layton.

“I want people to feel better about themselves and boost their confidence. Maybe even make a friend or two,” said Layton.

The Cardio Drumming class led by Tincy Goggin is an aerobic drumming class.

“CD combines an aerobic workout with drumming movements, although it requires no drumming experience or even a drum. The exercise involves using drumsticks to hit an exercise ball placed on a bucket or step risers while listening to upbeat music,” said Goggin.

“So the goal is to offer a class that is fun and easy entry to fitness where you can work off some of your everyday stress and ‘pound’ off a few calories in the process,” said Goggin.

If you are interested in going head to the Stone Recreation Center in your favorite workout outfit. Then walk in and take a right to the Multipurpose Room.

“I enjoy the classes I take because they give me a break from everyday life while also getting me to be active. I go to a class when I just need to release stress… I would tell people who are interested that they should definitely go at least once. It’s super low commitment and a great way to use your free time to better yourself,” said Isabelle Monroe (‘27).
