There has been an unexpected change made to the commencement ceremony this year. Adam Sandler is scheduled to speak at this year’s commencement ceremony. This is something that has been kept a secret from the students up until when it was recently leaked on YikYak. The YikYak was confirmed by the college shortly thereafter.
Adam Sandler is one of the most well-known speakers to ever come to the Alma campus. The students are very excited to see what Sandler has to say during his commencement speech. This is shaping up to be the most memorable commencement to ever occur here at Alma College.
“I hope he discusses his life as a struggling comedian and how eventually through years of hard work was able to accomplish what others only dream of. Now, the name Adam Sandler means something to everyone who hears it… I also hope he throws in a few jokes,” said Walker Micheals (’24).
The students feel as though Sandler is a great person to speak to the graduating class. He has a great speaking voice, and his success story is one like no other. He is clearly a great fit to inspire the graduating class for the future.
“I think a lot of us are coming out of college maybe feeling a little lost and not quite knowing what the future hold[s]. I think hearing from one of the most well-known celebrities in the world that anything is possible if you are willing to put in the work will encourage us to dream big and may even comfort us to know that we are capable of anything if we put our mind and body towards it,” said Micheals.
Students hope the act will illustrate the appreciation of his character and that his message will be that Sandler type of funny.
Adam Sandler will hopefully have an inspiring speech to share with the class of 2024. It will be exciting to see what he will have to say to the graduating class. Students will also have the opportunity to dress in Sandler-themed outfits in order to celebrate the honor of Sandler visiting the Alma College campus.
“I don’t think he would see it coming and it would be a wholesome surprise for him to see how happy we are that he chose to speak with us,” said Micheals.
It is a great opportunity for students to show their support for Sander and show their appreciation to Sandler for visiting campus to speak at commencement. It is a well-known fact amongst those who are big fans of Sandler that he is a big fan of the Alma Scots. In fact he has been seen making Alma College a frequent destination during his travels.
“Adam Sandler actually loves Alma. I was very shocked to discover this because, like, why? Well, as many people know, Mr. Sandler often travels around, and when he does, he looks for pickup basketball games to join in with the local kids. This happened one time while he was in Alma and after playing a few games with some Alma College students, he decided to take a walk-through campus to see what else Alma had in store,” said Micheals.
It will be exciting to see what Sandler brings to this year’s graduation commencement. Adam Sandler is expected to be a guiding light for our Seniors as they start their futures. It is important that Sandler inspires the Seniors as they step into said future. Sandler will be the perfect person to share a story that will inspire Seniors to work hard to be the best they can be. It will be a final omen of good luck as Alma sends its 2024 graduating class out into the world.
