Alma College Dining Services is excited to announce students are now granted the opportunity to utilize Grub Hub right here on campus as of Wednesday, Jan. 24.

Grub Hub is a food delivery and pickup company that partners with restaurants in surrounding areas. However, on Alma College’s campus, students will now be able to “pre-order [their food and] then stop into Loch Lamond Cafe and pick up food should they have a busy schedule,” said Micah Braman, General Manager of the Food Service Management Team at Alma.

This new service will also “give all customers the ability to use mobile ordering for both QDOBA and MACS Grill,” said Braman.

“I’m excited to be able to use this in the Learning Commons options because I am so busy with athletics that I think this will make my life so much easier with quicker pickup methods like Grub Hub,” said Sofia Floros (‘26).

Similar to Floros, many students on campus are looking forward to the increased timeliness of acquiring food at Loch Lamond Cafe that Grub Hub is likely to deliver.

While it may be confusing at first, utilizing the Grub Hub app is easy and efficient. “Grub Hub is available for download on your phone’s app store. Once [it is] downloaded, students will need to sign up or log into their accounts. Then, they should go to [the] account and tap Campus Dining. On the next screen, tap ‘Find Your Campus’ and continue to follow the prompts,” said Braman with helpful hints on how to make the experience as easy as possible.

It is important to note that, according to Braman, Grub Hub will also be accepting both Munch Money and credit cards.

“After hearing about what old Joe’s was like, I think so many people will be excited to have the option of Munch Money with this new program. It feels like Munch Money is often a forgotten option by staff, but I am so glad they considered it when adding Grub Hub to the student dining options,” said Floros.

While there are clearly many benefits accompanying the addition of Grub Hub to the Alma College campus, a “potential downside would be logistics and Dining Services figuring out the best way to navigate [them]. Like anything, it takes time to streamline a new process,” said Braman.

As previously mentioned, students are excited to see Grub Hub being offered at Alma; however, there is already talk of wanting an expansion of this service. Using Grub Hub in partnership with additional local locations “would keep people from [having to go] out on the roads during bad weather and could be more convenient for people without ways of transportation to get to those restaurants [and] places to eat,” said Tristan Salazar (‘25).

As Braman said, it will take time for the logistics to be worked out with this new addition. However, it is clearly an exciting lead for students to fathom up further opportunities that may look similar to what Salazar suggests; nevertheless, it may be too difficult with the software, hardware and contract side of things that went into achieving the opportunity we now have with Grub Hub.

“We encourage all students to download the Grub Hub app and affiliate with our campus. Doing so will give [students] an entry into our raffle. Plus, each time they order between [Jan. 24 and Jan. 31], they will receive an additional raffle entry,” said Braman.
